I’ve been taking photos since I was a teenager and have literally taken thousands of images – my brother gave me my first camera for my birthday – it was a Nikon SLR film camera with a 50mm lens. He told me to use it for a year and next birthday I’ll get some other lenses, true to his word the following year I got a 70/205mm zoom and a 28mm wide angle lens. I shot mainly in B&W and spent a lot of time in the darkroom printing.
I had that camera for years and years, later I upgraded to a different body, but when it became difficult to use the focus due to a deterioration in my eyesight I dreamed of a digital SLR with auto focus which I got in 2004.
I’m still using this camera which produces really good quality photos, the Automatic Focus really helps!
Every photographer sees the world differently, we all notice different things – for me it’s texture, pattern, shape and of course colour. I don’t use Photoshop to create images, I limit editing to what I could reasonably achieve in the darkroom, although I do play with some other editing functions, but always I start with a decent image.
Please read about the paper the photos are printed on the Product Quality and Materials Used Page.
